What Is fentanyl and Why Are People Dying?

Fentanyl is a powerful, cheap drug and it’s killing people. It’s sold in schools, online and on the street. People are dying because fentanyl is often disguised to look just like prescription pills commonly taken for pain or anxiety, such as Oxycodone, Xanax, Adderall or Percocet — and it’s being recklessly laced into drugs by untrained black market drug manufacturers to get you hooked. What makes fentanyl so dangerous is that just a small amount added to one pill can be lethal, and sometimes people die from it just a few minutes after taking it.

More than 42% of all pills laced with fentanyl contain a lethal dose.

That’s why it’s so important to only take prescription drugs dispensed by your pharmacy. Because you’ll never know which drugs might be laced with fentanyl until it’s too late — often with deadly consequences.
